The Robot Wars World Championships were a series of full-length international Robot Wars events, in which robots from all over the world competed against each other to represent their home countries in battle.

Three events of this kind took place during the original Classic Series run. The first was originally released as a direct-to-video special, later being aired by BBC networks. The remaining two would be aired in tandem with the corresponding UK and/or US versions; namely Robot Wars Extreme, Robot Wars: Extreme Warriors (both Second World Championship), and Robot Wars: The Seventh Wars (Third World Championship).

The First World Championship[]

The First World Championship was filmed shortly after Robot Wars: The Third Wars, initially being released exclusively on VHS on 13 March 2000 and later released on DVD on 10 January 2005. Televised airings began on BBC Choice on 16 November 2001, and on BBC Two on 28 December the same year.

The championship was hosted by Craig Charles, the pit reporter was Philippa Forrester and commentary was provided by Jonathan Pearce. The championship featured sixteen robots from England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Czech Republic, Cyprus, USA and Australia. It was later shown on television the day before the airing of The Second World Championship, heavily edited to fit the time slot.

In the UK, the championship was hosted by Craig Charles, the pit reporter was Julia Reed and commentary was provided by Jonathan Pearce. In the US, the equivalent roles were assumed by Mick Foley, Rebecca Grant and Stefan Frank respectively. The championship featured sixteen robots from the UK, USA, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, Republic of Ireland, Belgium and South Africa.
