Termigator was a competitor robot which attempted to enter Series 7 of Robot Wars. It failed to qualify for that series, for reasons which are currently unknown.

The team previously failed to qualify in Series 4 and 5 with Tiger Shark (known as Sharky for Series 3-4), a box wedge shaped robot painted black and orange and armed with a flipping arm. They also entered the Series 2 Middleweight Championship with Scorpion (not to be confused with the unrelated heavyweight competitor of the same name), which lost its only battle.

Design[]

Termigator was a low, rectangular-shaped robot with four outside wheels and two weapons - a set of small front clamping jaws at the front and a large static rear spike. The robot was designed to resemble an alligator, being painted green and yellow and featuring a pair of eyes and teeth on either side of the clamp to resemble an alligator's head. However, Termigator could easily be flipped due to its high ground clearance, and its large wheels and exposed tyres were left very vulnerable to damage from axes, spikes and spinners.

Etymology[]

The robot's name was a portmanteau of 'Terminator' and 'alligator', with the robot being designed to resemble an alligator and wearing a pair of sunglasses as a homage to the titular character of The Terminator.

Termigator appeared at the 2002 Robot Fayre event where it was known to have faced Kan-Opener in a Tug of War game. It returned for several more live events, including one held by Roaming Robots at Wicksteed Park, Kettering. Termigator was sold for parts in 2004, and the team have not taken part in any other events since.[1]
