Finalised Rules + Update on Featherweights[]

The new rules for Series 10 have just been finalised and released, including the amended weight limits for walkerbots/shufflebots and more details on the types of entanglement weapons allowed. According to the Facebook announcement, it also seems like they're postponing the reintroduction of featherweights until after Series 10, although the build rules themselves still mention the weight limits for standard/walker/shuffling featherweight robots. VulcansHowl 18:18, March 21, 2017 (UTC)

I presume this is so that they are prepared for the thousands and thousands of featherweights that would turn up. I know that an Australian was building a successor to a eggbeater, which in turn was an eggbeater and used parts from another eggbeater. --WolfwingandSlaveLeia (talk) 18:32, March 21, 2017 (UTC)
I don't know about you, but having watched many of Tom Strong Reviews' YouTube videos of the FRA Featherweight Championships, I'd be genuinely excited about the prospect of a full-scale Featherweight Championship should it come to reality. VulcansHowl 18:50, March 21, 2017 (UTC)

Tickets[]

Applications for Tickets are now open. I've gone for Friday 121th afternoon, if any of you are interested. I also might be popping in on Thursday afternoon too. Jimlaad43(talk) 15:30, April 12, 2017 (UTC)

Robot Wars and Battlebots producers...[]

So the Robot Wars and Battlebots producers were spotted at the RoboGames discussing something. Earlier in the week Robot Wars on Twitter announced that big new was coming. My theory is that there maybe a RoboGames TV show coming? Or something that makes it a "World Championship" esc competition or even a Battlebots vs Robot Wars competition?. Here are the Links below say your thoughts:

Spoiler tag[]

I've added a spoiler tag as it seems one team have given away that they are in Series 10 and some wiki contributors (or Fandom users as they're called now), I would add a link to said spoiler as proof of reasoning but alas the team name would be a dead giveaway. Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 12:37, April 27, 2017 (UTC)

Spoilers and the like[]

Since series 10 is currently being recorded, I've been wondering if we could post and update the arena, even if its a minor update? I also know that the whiteboard matches are suppose to be recorded by Reddit and the like and posted on YouTube, so if they were linked to the previous whiteboard page, could they be downloaded to a user?

Also, Garfie (the guy behind Dystopia) has reveled who owns the robot wars robots - Mentorn. Or at least, the image rights and to profit from them. --WolfwingandSlaveLeia (talk) 14:15, May 13, 2017 (UTC)

Reddit is not a source for information like this for the wiki. Only official stuff released publicly by Mentorn/the BBC counts. I'd also say what you've written contravenes our spoiler policy, please edit your post.--Jimlaad43(talk) 14:40, May 13, 2017 (UTC)
How exactly? --WolfwingandSlaveLeia (talk) 16:24, May 13, 2017 (UTC)

Special Event[]

We knew about the celebrity special because it was mentioned on the ticket website, whereas nothing else has been said this year. Now can we stop stealing everything from Reddit and posting it here, there are reasons people like me avoid Reddit because people write everything. I mean, if you want, I could spoil everything I know about Series 10, but because A: You sign an agreement that you say nothing when you get the tickets, and B: Not everyone wants to know everything. From now on - Reddit is not a source for anything about the new Series', only OFFICIAL MENTORN OR BBC PRESS RELEASES ARE. Anything perceived as a spoiler, whether true or not, must be removed from here. Jimlaad43(talk) 19:18, May 13, 2017 (UTC)

https://robotwarsmania.com/robot-wars-series-10-international-special-confirmed - The Apollo team confirmed as such.--Nononsensecapeesh (talk) 22:33, July 11, 2017 (UTC)

I'm not sure if you should be added, due to the nature of the website, but since its been confirmed the Apollo team, it means the event exists. Perhaps wait for a team to announce it on twitter or facebook. --WolfwingandSlaveLeia (talk) 06:35, July 12, 2017 (UTC)

Video[]

I found this on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-Prds4ML-o. I'm not sure if contains spoilers or anything like that, so watch it at your own risk. --WolfwingandSlaveLeia (talk) 15:30, May 21, 2017 (UTC)

Possible air date?[]

Amazon UK's description for Build Your Own Robot has revealed October 2017 as a possible air date for Series 10. I'm not sure whether this is official, but given the way in which the description emphasises on the book being a tie-in with Series 10, it seems like an autumn airing is a realistic possibility. VulcansHowl 22:51, June 5, 2017 (UTC)

Sgt. Bash[]

Presenting duo trivia[]

This isn't the first time in the show's run that the main presenting duo has remained the same for three consecutive series because Craig & philippa did 3 series together in series 5,6 and extreme 2.--90.211.173.92 11:42, July 25, 2017 (UTC) (Tornado1927)

ok.--90.211.173.92 11:50, July 25, 2017 (UTC) (Tornado1927)

Potential airing dates[]

According to an updated description on the Amazon page for the Robot Wars: Build Your Own Robot Manual, the new series may air in October. Not too long to go then, in that case. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 20:26, August 21, 2017 (UTC)

October was always my guess. It's 4 months after filming, which is the time frame for both previous series'. Jimlaad43(talk) 20:46, August 21, 2017 (UTC)

Format[]

I know we said not to post anything unless realised from BBC or Mentorn but I found a page (robotwarsmania.com/spoiler-series-10-tournament-format ) and a video ( will find it eventually ) on the format should we add it or not.--176.251.119.26 16:52, August 29, 2017 (UTC)

Since neither Robot Wars Mania or the video you are referring to are official sources, I would not recommend adding any information on the potential format of Series 10 until an official announcement has been made. The video in particular may also contain pre-air spoilers, which are absolutely forbidden here under any circumstances. VulcansHowl 17:12, August 29, 2017 (UTC)
Vulcan pretty much nailed it on the head. If you can find official word from BBC or Mentorn about the new format, then sure, we can add it. Just not until then. CrashBash (talk) 17:16, August 29, 2017 (UTC)

UPDATE: Dara Ó Briain reveals...[]

Something quite major that Dara Ó Briain has confirmed in this article:https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2017/sep/03/dara-o-briain-beyond-the-sky-childrens-book-interview He reveals the following in the article

"Of course, I’m just embarrassing Dad. The only thing that’s really clicked with them is Robot Wars. Our house is scattered with cardboard cutouts of robots. It’s back on TV in October, and this series there’s a 10-robot battle, so I got the kids along to the studio for that. There were 10 illuminated robots flying around the arena at once. It was by some distance the longest fight ever. By the end there was a huge robot pile-up in the pit, all still clanking and spinning. Even my kids conceded that was pretty cool."
— Dara Ó Briain

Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 06:01, September 4, 2017 (UTC)

If 'that' battle turns out to be like one of the featherweight 'Gladiator' fights, then it should be quite a spectacle. Anyway, I'm glad to see a reputable source confirm the October air date - although they don't say exactly which date it will start on, Dara's words certainly correspond with the Amazon listings for the Haynes manual. VulcansHowl 08:20, September 4, 2017 (UTC)

By the way should this be, if it's a variable source, added to the article?Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 09:58, September 4, 2017 (UTC)

The October bit only. We currently don't know how that 10-robot battle works, so I reckon we leave it out ATM. Jimlaad43(talk) 10:19, September 4, 2017 (UTC)
Ah, first official word of the ten-robot battle. CrashBash (talk) 13:22, September 4, 2017 (UTC)
Tell me about it. When I first heard about it a few months ago, I couldn't wait for others to know about it so that it could be discussed. I can't see us implementing that sort of battle into the Arena Forums any time soon mind you. :P Raz3r(talk) 13:54, September 4, 2017 (UTC)
Yeah. I know much too much about New Season 3 as is (not the results, thankfully) and the 10 robot rumble was one of the biggest things. CrashBash (talk) 14:34, September 4, 2017 (UTC)
I'm in the same position as you. While I didn't go last series, I still found out about two Grand Finalists (Eruption and Carbide) before the first episode thanks to the One Show, and another person on reddit blurted out on Frostbite going through before having to pull out. I'm hoping to avoid a repeat this series. Raz3r(talk) 16:48, September 4, 2017 (UTC)
That's the main reason I avoid Reddit. Yeah, I know the format, the full draw and a load of results from being at filming, but there is no way I want to know more. This is why I take such a hard line on spoilers, as it's always best to err on the side of caution to avoid ruining it for other people. Jimlaad43(talk) 16:54, September 4, 2017 (UTC)
To be fair, Reddit is usually pretty good. I've only had one robot result spoilt to me in three series, which I count myself lucky with. Raz3r(talk) 16:59, September 4, 2017 (UTC)

Twitter[]

This recent Twitter update suggests that official news on Series 10 is on its way.... VulcansHowl 09:11, September 5, 2017 (UTC)

Possible air date released by Dara[]

A reply on Twitter from Dara Ó Briain appears to have revealed the air date. I found it here. Should we add it to the Series 10 page? Raz3r(talk) 15:12, September 22, 2017 (UTC)

I thought Toast had already added it. Feels weird to know that Robot Wars starts up again in about a month. --WolfwingandSlaveLeia (talk) 15:36, September 22, 2017 (UTC)
Oops, didn't notice that. Raz3r(talk) 16:04, September 22, 2017 (UTC)

UPDATE: Press Day, 29th September[]

Angela Scanlon has earlier today tweeted about a 'Robot Wars press day' being held tomorrow (29th September). Seems like an announcement on Series 10 is imminent! VulcansHowl 17:25, September 28, 2017 (UTC)

My competitor articles are at the ready. And have been for months(!) TOAST 18:13, September 28, 2017 (UTC)
I have a few things ready myself, specifically the Series 10 section of the UK Championship page. CrashBash (talk) 18:18, September 28, 2017 (UTC)
This means that IF we get a website update tomorrow, nobody needs to worry about competitor articles because I have 29 of the 30 covered (one is a slightly awkward case which I couldn't start without learning more about the robot), but the most helpful thing that anybody could do for me is upload the images from each page. That would speed up my releases significantly. I'll also be in uni from 3 until 5. I'm sure I can leave miscellaneous pages to you lot (eg weapon pages), and we'll also have a serious task updating any article with Series Record EX on it. The regular Seties Record template will update itself. TOAST 18:27, September 28, 2017 (UTC)
I'll be at work tomorrow and won't be back until about 2pm. Obviously also, I'd like to do my standard "Series competitor" template and that'll be my main project as it always is for the series. It's small, so it shouldn't be in the way of anyone else. CrashBash (talk) 18:46, September 28, 2017 (UTC)
When the announcement happens, why doesn't everyone online join the Wiki chat feature to discuss realtime who does what? It's something we should do more often, especially after episodes. Jimlaad43(talk) 19:22, September 28, 2017 (UTC)
Excellenr I have a public holiday so I'm around Toon Ganondorf (t c) 19:48, September 28, 2017 (UTC)
Just to let everyone know in advance, I will kindly take responsibility for updating the weapons pages. VulcansHowl 21:43, September 28, 2017 (UTC)
I will continue updating the Judges' decisions, OotAs, errors and categories, like last series. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 16:20, September 29, 2017 (UTC)

Hate to disappoint everyone, but looks like we're gonna be waiting another 2 days for anything proper... [1] Raz3r(talk) 15:01, September 29, 2017 (UTC)

Far from disappointed - glad to see that the hype train has left the station! :D VulcansHowl 15:05, September 29, 2017 (UTC)
One piece of news I have stumbled upon, the Passion Distribution Robot Wars Format Brochure states that "Season 3: 8 x 60'(minute episodes)". It also contains a number of ratings and social media stats from series 9. --Voyanuitoa (talk) 15:24, September 29, 2017 (UTC)
That matches with what I've heard, so that's something. CrashBash (talk) 15:44, September 29, 2017 (UTC)
Ooo a potential trailer...eve though it may be spoilery.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 15:51, September 29, 2017 (UTC)

Trailer Tomorrow[]

Tomorrow at 8pm is when the trailer launches, and I unfortunately won't be online on a laptop until two hours later. Still, to make the most of this, it would help if people could message me (preferably over Facebook) to say how spoiler-heavy the trailer is during that time, if you're perceptive enough to realise. I saw the first two rounds of the show at filming, so I can allow myself to watch anything with clips only from the first three rounds, but beyond that means I won't be watching, especially in the likely scenario that the 10-way melee is included. Of course, I'm not saying "go watch the trailer and get spoiled", this is only for people who plan to watch the trailer. Hopefully there's stuff we can do off the back of the reveal. TOAST 18:05, September 30, 2017 (UTC)

I'll probably be the one uploading the trailer to the wiki and if you want I'll try and remember to message you about it.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 18:13, September 30, 2017 (UTC)
Sure thing, I'm not sure how aware you are of who's in which battle whereas I know the outcome of two whole rounds so everyone's going to define a spoiler differently, which is why I'm open to messages from anybody. TOAST 18:19, September 30, 2017 (UTC)
Heads up - I know the entire first round line-up and heat format. That's about it. Anything beyond that would be a spoiler for me, although I think I'd be OK provided there's no clips specifically from the final. CrashBash (talk) 18:23, September 30, 2017 (UTC)
Same here Crash. I'm going to try avoiding the trailer completely until I know the depths of the spoilers, because it was awful for Series 8, with the inclusion of TR2, Thor and Pulsar, and mixed for Series 9. Raz3r(talk) 18:29, September 30, 2017 (UTC)
@Toast I already know a few things about the line-up and the format for the qualifying episodes, but I will definitely be watching the trailer just to get a taster for what's to come. Will message you once I've seen it a few times and digested its contents. VulcansHowl 18:33, September 30, 2017 (UTC)

Having read the Programming Information section on the BBC Media Centre website, it does say that they usually publish updates for TV programmes every Thursday. In that case, we should all expect that page to return later this week. :) VulcansHowl 21:12, October 3, 2017 (UTC)

OK, I'm not going to lie, this is sort of bugging me. It seems that the instant...the absolute instant...that information about the new series of Robot Wars is released, it is immediately pulled. Is there any logical reason why? CrashBash (talk) 14:02, October 4, 2017 (UTC)

One possible reason is that BBC or Mentorn has a press embargo and one hasn’t told the other or departments within the BBC haven’t been talking to each other, or say somebody in the BBC Press Office puts something up without checking with a supervisor that every party involved has greenlighted it yet and then it gets spotted by the higher-ups and pulled down.--Voyanuitoa (talk) 14:08, October 4, 2017 (UTC)
That would make a lot of sense, especially when considering what I was saying last night about the Programming Information page going offline. After all, the Series 9 launch date wasn't revealed until long after the first trailer was put online, so I wouldn't be surprised if the BBC/Mentorn are trying to maintain a similar approach with Series 10's marketing. VulcansHowl 14:19, October 4, 2017 (UTC)
I wouldn't get too paranoid Crash, no programmes are shown for the "Week 43" which includes Oct 22, it was probably posted by mistake rather than being pulled. Jimlaad43(talk) 19:08, October 4, 2017 (UTC)

It's back up now http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/proginfo/2017/43/robot-wars, time to add episode 1 competitors? --Voyanuitoa (talk) 15:06, October 5, 2017 (UTC)

Handbook[]

As many of you are no doubt aware, Robot Wars: The Official Handbook today confirmed all of Series 10's competing robots, and contains images of all the newcomers. I have updated all of my articles offline, ready to post them, but are we OK to do so? Right now, I'm not sure. Robot Wars haven't promoted this book at all, and no doubt have plans to reveal the robots in their own way, so I think I'll hold off for now. Even still, these "official leaks" are picking up speed quickly, it may be a fruitless effort to conceal them. TOAST 13:28, October 5, 2017 (UTC)

At the rate things are going, we may have to simply bite the bullet and just add what we've got as soon as we can, otherwise no doubt someone will beat us to the punch. I mean, personally, I'd hold off just a little longer, for now at least, but don't be surprised if something comes up. We may not be able to hide it forever, even though we really should. CrashBash (talk) 13:36, October 5, 2017 (UTC)
It's official Robot Wars property so I see why not, also for those curious someone uploaded all the official shots for newcomers in Series 10 here: https://imgur.com/gallery/W2XkF be warned that the handbook also reveals each heat as seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iq7zxnGxIYU.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 13:44, October 5, 2017 (UTC)
One possible solution maybe to contact some of the Series 10 roboteers privately over social media and say "The new book just out says you are in Series 10, is it okay to put that up on the wiki?" and see what they say. If a large majority say yes then go from there. --Voyanuitoa (talk) 13:49, October 5, 2017 (UTC)
I'd think that'd be reasonable. On a side note, I love these new machines (as well as the returning two/three)

UPDATE: At least one roboteer acknowledges the Handbook image and Heat reveals, however most he says is that the robot didn't look like it does in the Handbook. Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 13:59, October 5, 2017 (UTC)

Better keep that in mind for any trivia point later. All I can say for now is that everything shown here - in regards to robots and heat line-up - matches what I already knew.CrashBash (talk) 14:08, October 5, 2017 (UTC)

Format for Series 10 (spoilers for format obviously)[]

Can I just say, I really like the new format. With only one robot winning in the three way melees, I hope it'll reduce the likelihood of robots being ganged up on a la Series 4. We also get to see every robot fight twice, so if there's an unlucky round 1 machine (thinking Razer in Series 8 or maybe Cobra in Series 9), we get to see what they can really do. The 10 way wildcard fight is going to be insane too. I'm looking forward to this series, and I've avoided all spoilers of results for it thus far, although I've known about everything else for months. Raz3r(talk) 14:58, October 5, 2017 (UTC)

The format interests me for the same reasons. It does mean Series 10 is kinda small, with only 30 robots (that's less than Series 1!), but since we get to see each robot twice, everyone will get a fair focus...it feel likes a quality over quantity thing, certainly. And yeah, I'm in the same boat - I've known the competitors and the round 1 line-up, but avoiding everything else. CrashBash (talk) 15:24, October 5, 2017 (UTC)

Two things 1)Its really confusing and 2)The 10 way melee must have a time limit to some point otherwise it may last ages.--Tornado1927 (talk) 15:27, October 5, 2017 (UTC)

It'll probably last three minutes, the same as every other battle. Good luck judges, you might need it. CrashBash (talk) 15:28, October 5, 2017 (UTC)
According to the handbook, it doesn't sound like there will be a time limit for the 10-way melee. 'Last robot standing', as it were. Should be mental. VulcansHowl 15:30, October 5, 2017 (UTC)
If that is true VulcansHowl, then that is a wise decision, because I struggle seeing the Judges being able to make a decision in such a battle. If it goes on for such a long time, then we may have a Rammstein-like robot, who runs out of power! SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 15:32, October 5, 2017 (UTC)

Second Trailer (WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS)[]

The official Facebook page has posted a new trailer with footage from Series 10 as well as a handful of application videos. DO NOT CLICK if you don't want any spoilers!

The post containing the trailer also confirms once and for all that the air date for Episode 1 is: 22nd October, 8pm, BBC Two. VulcansHowl 19:33, October 8, 2017 (UTC)

Heat 2 Airdate & Line-up[]

The BBC have confirmed the airdate and line-up for Heat 2: Eruption, Aftershock, Crackers 'n' Smash, Gabriel (referred to as Gabriel 2), Big Nipper and Carbide. The airdate: Sunday 29th October. Given the quality of the machines themselves, this should be an epic heat, regardless of what others say about the lack of seedings! VulcansHowl 08:23, October 13, 2017 (UTC)

They obviously like putting the Grand Finalists together, wow! I'm glad Big Nipper are back, they'll be a high light. Jimlaad43(talk) 09:13, October 13, 2017 (UTC)
Right, now that this has been officially revealed, this gives me the perfect chance to talk about something I've been meaning to for ages. CrashBash (talk) 13:03, October 13, 2017 (UTC)
Simultaneously the best and stupidest line-up of any heat ever, so bravo and boo! I look forward to hearing what you have to say Crash, because when I first heard this line-up back in May, I both laughed and raged. Raz3r(talk) 14:21, October 13, 2017 (UTC)
It's the sort of line-up that would be great for an Extreme 2 one-episode tournament, but rankles a bit for a UK championship, although one does have to remember that two of the robots will go on to take part in the 10 robot rumble. --Voyanuitoa (talk) 14:29, October 13, 2017 (UTC)
I hope Big Nipper survives or at the very least get to the 10 Way melee, I love that machine too much to see it mutilated.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 14:30, October 13, 2017 (UTC)
The least competitive robot based on statistics is Crackers 'n' Smash, and they are a great clusterbot. So if there is one advantage with this lineup, it is that there are no weak opponents to defeat at all. No need to complain about a robot being overrated now. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 15:31, October 13, 2017 (UTC)
I completely support this draw, it means no free wins for Carbide, and guarantees new finalists. It also means I am allowed to cheer for Eruption, whereas in other heats I would just be cheering for the reigning runner-up - it actually turns the elites into underdogs. TOAST 16:10, October 13, 2017 (UTC)
Hopefully we see Carbide vs Big Nipper to see whether or not we were right to send through Carbide in Ragnabot 2. After all, this Carbide is better than that one was, although I guess Big Nipper should be too. I wonder how much that could have changed the course of the Ragnabot 2 series... Raz3r(talk) 16:23, October 13, 2017 (UTC)

Noooooooo[]

Why does the start of Robot Wars have to clash with the United States Grand Prix? And it'll clash with Mexico the Week after. Damn, I'll be a few hours behind then.--Jimlaad43(talk) 08:17, October 16, 2017 (UTC)

In the UK you could watch the US GP on Channel 4 +1 at 9pm (watch the build up on Channel 4 until 8pm, switch to RW). If your preference is Sky Sports F1’s coverage, then they repeat the main race show over the next few days. That’s what I’m doing.--Voyanuitoa (talk) 08:21, October 16, 2017 (UTC)
I'm going into my university to watch the Race with a group of people live anyway, so I won't be able to watch RW until like 10:30 anyway.--Jimlaad43(talk) 08:33, October 16, 2017 (UTC)

Haynes Manual: Is it time?[]

What with the publication of the Haynes manual (my copy of which I am currently reading) is it time to add the full Series 10 line-up? Expulsion was updated because of an article on the Essex Live website, surely the Haynes Manual (which has technical details, but not pictures, of every competitor from Series 8-10) is enough to start updating/adding articles. People will be pleased to know that it does not say who won Series 10, though I will advise avoiding pages 12, 31(at all costs!), 48, 51, 52, 55, 58 and 60 for varying levels of spoilers. Pages 145-163 are the competitor robot stats, with separate stats for each series. --Voyanuitoa (talk) 15:37, October 16, 2017 (UTC)

Expulsion was previously added because it was the central focus of a trailer. Maybe the Haynes Manual is a fair reason to finally add everybody, but I haven't been able to get my own copy yet (thanks Waterstones), so it's hard to say. Thanks a lot for the spoiler warning. TOAST 16:01, October 16, 2017 (UTC)
I wouldn't say that Page 12, 55, 58 or 60 have spoilers. Page 29, however, does have one. 54 has one in a caption only. TOAST 16:57, October 18, 2017 (UTC)
I think I was including pictures of any Series 10 competitor as a spoiler. --Voyanuitoa (talk) 17:02, October 18, 2017 (UTC)

Looks like website may update soon.[]

It's in the title: http://www.robotwars.tv/competitors/ . Blank spaces have never been so tense! Raz3r(talk) 13:43, October 18, 2017 (UTC)

I've noticed it too, I think the Rob Pickford of Sabretooth said on twitter yesterday that the media embargo lifted https://twitter.com/robrrps/status/920193578919497728. Maybe Tinint (the company who do the RW website) are just taking their time. --Voyanuitoa (talk) 13:48, October 18, 2017 (UTC)
I've had the same thought when I saw it this morning. I've been refreshing constantly all day. Jimlaad43(talk) 13:49, October 18, 2017 (UTC)
I hope so. Then maybe I can make my prediction page whilst having a fair judge...and also so I can freely talk about everyone who's competing. CrashBash (talk) 15:56, October 18, 2017 (UTC)

Other competitor articles[]

Hi I've seen that articles on heavyweight robots that applied to be on the series but didn't make it are starting to appear. Was going to ask seeing as the series was originally going to have a featherweight championship which I applied to enter with my featherweight (only to hear the news), would it be OK to post an article about it?

Thanks Again Liam Bryant (talk) 03:10, October 28, 2017 (UTC)

I don't see why not, it would go in the Robots that had their competition cancelled category. Jimlaad43(talk) 05:09, October 28, 2017 (UTC)
No, I feel that opens up a can of worms which we're not ready for. Robots like Legion and Explosion would suddenly require expansive articles with their entire featherweight histories, while for others such as 722, we'd have to enquire as to whether or not they planned to take part in the first place - who knows which featherweight Team Shock applied with, for example. Even I could post an article about my application, which I haven't even got running yet. Let's save these until we know if a future series will have a featherweight division. TOAST 16:34, October 28, 2017 (UTC)

History section[]

Once the series has stated to be broadcast, it feels like the History section is redundant, or at least out of place. None of the preboot series' have it, they just go straight into the format section. Is it worth putting the History into a short sub page and have a link to it somewhere in the opening paragraph? Jimlaad43(talk) 16:47, October 31, 2017 (UTC)

Also I'd say add the Gallery to the same page. The other reboot episodes could do with the same treatment. Jimlaad43(talk) 16:48, October 31, 2017 (UTC)
Let's just move it to the bottom, above trivia. There's still useful content in there with dates which will one day be hard to find, and the mention of featherweights, length of applications etc. TOAST 17:33, October 31, 2017 (UTC)
A page like Robot Wars: Series 10/History would be sufficient. Jimlaad43(talk) 18:28, October 31, 2017 (UTC)
But unnecessary. The information all pertains to Series 10, and isn't excessively large, so this is the best place for it. TOAST 19:28, October 31, 2017 (UTC)

8 Episodes?[]

Are the 8 episodes including specials? Because in TV Magazines and on the TV it says 1/6, 2/6, etc. Adster1005 (talk) 21:09, November 12, 2017 (UTC)

The Passion Distribution website and promotional leaflet (which should be linked to on the page) both say 8 episodes for this series.--Voyanuitoa (talk) 21:12, November 12, 2017 (UTC)
That's what's odd though. The leaflet says 8, but TV Guides are only saying 6. It also says that on the BBC website There will be six episodes. More information coming soon. --Adster1005 (talk) 21:16, November 12, 2017 (UTC)
The leading theory is that the extra two episodes may be specials of some kind, which is why they are not included in the TV guide/BBC Website count. --Voyanuitoa (talk) 21:19, November 12, 2017 (UTC)
Hopefully those two extras will be Christmas Specials again. Jimlaad43(talk) 21:20, November 12, 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for clearing the confusion. --Adster1005 (talk) 21:23, November 12, 2017 (UTC)

Background sightings[]

So I know there's not any official confirmation but there is the first "hints" at the possible specials (as stated on the official DVD for Series 9/10) as noted by the appearances of a black recolour, a reptile, English Flag prints and a certain furry machine. Just to point out, I'm not saying what the are or what it is but it's great that this episode had given us viewers the first "hints" Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 21:17, December 3, 2017 (UTC)

Well, I did see what looked like a certain BOTS robot. CrashBash (talk) 21:22, December 3, 2017 (UTC)
Yes I noticed that when ever they panned by Carbide in the pits. (Though not as exciting as you know who :D!!!!)Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 21:24, December 3, 2017 (UTC)

DIGIGUIDE Reveals special on the 31st[]

According to this Reddit post Digiguide reveals the specials for Robot Wars, apparently it'll be on the 31st and lists the competitors and teams (though if you watched the Grand Final you'd seem half of them already). https://www.reddit.com/r/robotwars/comments/7hen4q/robot_wars_uk_vs_the_rest_of_the_world_december/

EDIT:Seeing as JimLaad mentioned this also, should there be any updates to articles?Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 10:19, December 4, 2017 (UTC)
I think we should wait until some official photos surface personally, but I am happy to listen to the opinion s if others. Jimlaad43(talk) 12:04, December 4, 2017 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the link to the Digiguide itself, which would be even handier. CrashBash (talk) 14:35, December 4, 2017 (UTC)
I think you need an account to view advance listings. --Voyanuitoa (talk) 14:40, December 4, 2017 (UTC)
What Voya Nui said you need an account (I don't have one myself) but according to the post the competitors, date and title were named.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 14:42, December 4, 2017 (UTC)
I want official BBC reveals before we update, not just TV listings accessible to the few. That's less official than the books we ignored. TOAST 16:22, December 4, 2017 (UTC)

Fog of War is bye bye[]

Robot Wars Twitter have confirmed they'll get rid of The Fog of War for next Series and we may see another rumble(s)!....That is IF (though they still have the arena rights so I can't see why not) https://twitter.com/UKRobotWars/status/937740773533024258 Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 18:35, December 4, 2017 (UTC)

Robot Wars International Special confirmed by BBC[]

Diotoir confirmed! Toon Ganondorf (t c) 23:25, December 8, 2017 (UTC)
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! The spotty legend is back! Sam (BAZINGA) 00:44, December 9, 2017 (UTC)
You've no idea how giddy I've been about Diotoir's return since Reddit first confirmed it straight after the Series 10 filming. Raz3r(talk) 02:04, December 9, 2017 (UTC)
It's all exciting, but I wouldn't jump the gun just yet. There's still much we don't know. CrashBash (talk) 05:51, December 9, 2017 (UTC)
I think we can consider this a successor to Robot Wars: The Third Wars/International League Championship, right? It's not a world championship or a European championship, but the vague "international special" is satisfactory to make it the most correct successor. Toon Ganondorf (t c) 09:12, December 9, 2017 (UTC)
I think the fact that it is a team competition rather than a championship could complicate things as it may be that the entire team is declared the winner rather than a single robot. --Voyanuitoa (talk) 09:17, December 9, 2017 (UTC)
Some sources are calling the special "UK vs The Rest of the World" or something like that, so probably not. Extreme Warriors had an "International Championship" which was just US vs UK. TOAST 09:39, December 9, 2017 (UTC)
We’ll see what they call it, but I think it is more about substance, like the Celebrity Special. Toon Ganondorf (t c) 10:21, December 9, 2017 (UTC)
I'd imagine it'd depend on the format they're going for. I think we'd best hold off and see where we're going before we decide on what it's a successor to, if anything at all. I'm not convinced on it being a successor to the International League due to the abundance of British robots in comparison to international ones. CrashBash (talk) 14:03, December 9, 2017 (UTC)

The International League was so out there in terms of what the format was, that I don't think this can really be a successor. This is a standalone tournament really, and I hope there are more. Jimlaad43(talk) 14:30, December 9, 2017 (UTC)

DVD release...before Internationals[]

I've noticed on Twitter that some people have gotten the new DVD, which has BOTS and (according to the front cover "two specials") the Internationals...this means that (if) the DVD contains these then there maybe potential spoilers out and about. The reason i say if is because it could be meaning the two BOTS specials but it's better to be safe than sorry. (for reference, also why hasn't there been an article for this as it was announced AGES ago: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Robot-Wars-Complete-Compendium-2017/dp/B074BP3V7Q/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1512823695&sr=8-4&keywords=robot+wars ) Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 12:51, December 9, 2017 (UTC)

Stephen McCulla has received his copy of The Complete Compendium today - he confirms that it does not contain the International Specials. Just Series 9-10 and BOTS. VulcansHowl 22:47, December 11, 2017 (UTC)
Well, that's a relief. CrashBash (talk) 23:03, December 11, 2017 (UTC)
That's both great and slightly unfortunate because now we'll have to get ANOTHER DVD in order to have those :P Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 07:23, December 12, 2017 (UTC)

The World Series[]

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09ldvjq The BBC website now seems to be calling the international specials "Robot Wars: The World Series", this may be worth keeping an eye on to see what name is used during broadcast. --Voyanuitoa (talk) 11:37, December 12, 2017 (UTC)

Good to hear, we can probably get an episode page started soon, changing the article names if we get a new name later. TOAST 11:55, December 12, 2017 (UTC)
Glad we've got the official title, I was getting confused after hearing two different titles (UK vs The World and simply International Championship) Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 12:51, December 12, 2017 (UTC)
OK, so, I don't know if this constitutes anything, but Mentorn Media UK has tweeted confirmation of the first of two international specials being aired on BBC2 at 7pm (not 8pm, keep note), as well as a screenshot of two of the competitors. https://twitter.com/MentornMedia/status/940888216416194560 If you're curious you can have a looksee. CrashBash (talk) 21:45, December 13, 2017 (UTC)
Seeing as that's our first (albeit spoilery) look at Diotoir should the Design section be updated and only design.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 07:08, December 14, 2017 (UTC)

There are two other pictures of this Diotoir, but i will not link them until I am cleared for it. I am not gonna spoil anything. But the pictures are much more close up. ToonRaiderStudios (talk) 07:57, December 14, 2017 (UTC)

Were they officially released? Like the Metorn tweet? If so you could link them in the user talk perhaps but if not then maybe not.Yet.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk)
Either way, the presence of the two robots shown in particular seems to confirm something I'd heard about when I first learnt of the World Series. CrashBash (talk) 09:19, December 14, 2017 (UTC)

Axing[]

Sorry to hear to the news this week, it looks like the average member of the UK public would prefer to watch people making Love on an Island than watch them build a fierce, menacing robot and driving it into battle. Shame especially as it was doing so well. Ionlyliewheniloveyou (talk) 15:28, March 17, 2018 (UTC)

Sadly, it's one of those things. For such a niche show, it needs as much advertisement and backing as it can get - something which it got none of. The Blue Planet scheduling conflict just confirmed that the Beeb wanted an excuse to can it. Hopefully we can squeak out a Series 11 on another channel or platform.
