Name by design, not weapon[]

Hey, just a little thought....has anyone considered the possibility that Flipper may have gotten its name from its design, and not its weapon? It does look a lot like a dolphin, after all, what with the narrow "snout" and the self-righting spike on top, looking a lot like a dorsal fin? CrashBash 08:33, January 22, 2011 (UTC)

I must say I had never looked at it closely enough to realise this, but now you mention it I think you could be right. It does make a lot more sense this way. Christophee (talk) 21:39, January 23, 2011 (UTC)
Oddest dolphin I've ever seen, but yeah, that is a mpre plausible theory. Hard luck on their behalf that the robot's name suddenly got unoriginal when "flipper" became the colloquial term for the weapon; "lifter", "flip-up", and "Pneumatic ram" were other terms that the top roboteers in the UK were using.
