Static Blades are arguably the most common weapon used in Robot Wars and robot combat in general. They exist in three main forms - Spears, Spikes, and Ramming Blades - and are used to cause damage to opponents as well as to push them across the arena. Their versatility and low weight ensure that they can easily be added to a robot's design without making too many compromises.
Following the mandatory 'powered weapon' rule introduced in Series 7 and the Revival Series, static blades could no longer serve as the robot's primary offense.
Many static blades have also been added to existing weapons or become part of a robot's design, such as the lifting lance of Wild Thing and the spiked mounts of Darke Destroyer 2, both from Series 4. For convenience, those weapons are excluded from classification in this category.
