Razer is a competitor robot that fought from Series 2-6, before returning for the 2016 Series of Robot Wars. Despite suffering from mechanical problems in its first three series, Razer was hugely successful, winning Series 5, two World Championships and numerous other competitions. Razer previously appeared in Robot Wars: Arenas of Destruction, Robot Wars: Advanced Destruction, and also featured in the PC and Xbox version of Robot Wars: Extreme Destruction. It is unlocked when the player beats the gold level of Studio in Mayhem mode.
Appearance and ArmamentEdit
Razer is a wedge shape robot armed with a hydraulic crushing arm. The ingame model is distinguishable as its real life counterpart, although it is depicted as quite blocky due to the graphics, and has both the coloured wheels of its Series 3-4 version as well as the scoop it had in Extreme 1 and beyond.
Whilst Razer's crushing ram comes down quite slowly, it can be fantastically destructive when it gains purchase, and is good for holding onto opponents and dragging them into hazards. When fighting as Razer, not attacking head-on is your best bet. Grapple opponents from the back or sides, and stick near the Pit or other such hazards to make it easier to get opponents into them.
Razer's self-righting is somewhat slower than average, and as with all the All-Star Robots, is vulnerable to being juggled by Flippers. Otherwise, focus on attacking from the sides or other spots, and this should whittle down its armour. Its crushing ram is also quite slow, so try reversing away as it begins to move. Listen for the noise as it begins to attack. Lure it away from hazards and don't give it any opportunities to catch you.
Differences from Real LifeEdit
- Razer is wider than in real life, being the same width as 101, when in real life its chassis could fit within the tracks of 101.
- The self-righting wings are a lot smaller.
- The wings are static.
- Razer self rights by jumping onto its wheels when the srimech is activated, rather than the wings slowly pushing it back over.
