The MTV Pilot was a knockout tournament between four American robots, to serve as a pilot episode for a US series of Robot Wars, broadcast on MTV. It was filmed in the summer of 2000, a month before the Series 4 Christmas Specials were filmed. There were originally to be eight robots in the tournament, but after one team pulled out, the producers reduced the tournament size to four, and had the teams audition for spaces. Each team that competed received a $5,000 appearance fee.

The series was not picked up by MTV, but Robot Wars would later be picked up by TNN and make it onto American television as Robot Wars: Extreme Warriors.
