- "They wanted their robot to look like a robot, unlike most others here..."
- — Jonathan Pearce
Fat Boy Tin was a tall robot in a humanoid form that exclusively competed in Series 4 of Robot Wars. It had two pneumatic ramming 'punching' spikes on movable arms as weapons, which were supposed to rotate fully and allow it to self right, but this feature was removed as it was overweight. As a result, one flip from Vercingetorix eliminated it from the competition. The robot cost less than £200 in total to build.

Added by DatovidnyDuring the post-battle interview, a live snail was found inside the chassis, John Lewis suggested that this may have been because Fat Boy Tin was built in the garden as it wouldn't fit in the shed or the garage. Julia Reed remarked the snail as being "The first snail to enter Robot Wars". It also happens that the team returned for Series 6 (where they failed to qualify) and fought in Series 7 with a snail-like robot called Shell Shock that also went out in the 1st round. It is often believed that this robot was built and named in light of the snail found in Fat Boy Tin.
Fat Boy Tin's name is most likely a pun of the stagename of English DJ Fatboy Slim (real name Norman Cook).

- "Plunderbird 4 with the slicer-dicer, Vercingetorix with the axe and lifter, Fat Boy Tin with the...er...smile..."
- — Jonathan Pearce in-battle

Added by DatovidnyFat Boy Tin didn't last too long in its first round battle of the heat, where it was placed up against the number 26 seeds Plunderbird 4 and Vercingetorix. Fat Boy Tin was immediately grabbed hold of by Plunnderbird 4, this put Fat Boy Tin slightly off-balance. The other two machines then nudged Fat Boy Tin towards Sir Killalot's CPZ. Immediately afterwards, while under pressure from Sir Killalot, Vercingetorix slowly tipped over Fat Boy Tin onto its side, but not on the ground, only leaning on Sir Killalot, Sir Killalot then reversed, and Fat Boy Tin then lay on its side. All of the House Robots then closed in on the defeated machine and did some damage to it, the most prominent being Shunt axing a hole in Fat Boy Tin's smiley face, creating a 'ripped-off nose' effect. Fat Boy Tin was then flung by the arena floor flipper, which also caught out Vercingetorix, as was axing Fat Boy Tin's chassis. However Vercingetorix self-righted, albeit with some effort, right before cease was called, and Fat Boy Tin was eliminated from the competition.

- Fat Boy Tin was one of the first robots to fight Knuckles, the robot who failed to qualify the most times in Robot Wars history.
