"Dominator 2- an unusual robot, made even deadlier than before with a heavier pneumatic axe. It's made a dent in many of our other competitors in its time, will they be out for revenge?"
Jonathan Pearce's in-game commentary

Dominator 2 is a wedged double-V shaped robot, armed with a very powerful aircraft-grade aluminium axe, capable of causing considerable damage. Dominator 2 was quite successful in Robot Wars, reaching the Series Semi-Finals in Series 4, 5 and 6, whilst also finishing as the runner-up in both the Series 3 Pinball Warrior Tournament (under the guise Dominator) and the Series 4 Northern Annihilator. Dominator 2 was very quick across the arena, thanks to its two industrial 1HP motors, it maintains this speed in-game.

Appearance and Armament[]

Robot Wars: Extreme Destruction (PC/Xbox) is one of three Robot Wars video games that Dominator 2 features in. This game is based on Robot Wars Extreme: Series 1, the concurrent Extreme series to Series 5. The game version of Dominator 2 is indeed based on its Series 5 appearance, as it uses the same paint scheme that was used on this model, and features the guards for the wheels (these were present on the robot from Series 5 onwards). The speed and agility of the robot is very similar to real life. However, the ground clearance of the robot is noticeably lower than it is in real life, and the armour is a lot weaker than it is in real life, as the robot was well known for its tough armour. The axe fires slower than in real life too, and so can't really cause as much damage. The robot can self-right with the axe in the game, like it could in real life.

Strategies[]

Using Dominator 2[]

Dominator 2's turn of speed can be used to your advantage, if you're a good driver. Due to its high speed, it can be used very effectively to ram its opponents or push them around the arena. The axe can't cause considerable damage, so using the ramming ability of the robot to try and shove robots into arena hazards is possibly the best tactic to use. The axe can self-right the robot, and the ground clearance of the robot is very low, so you shouldn't worry too much about fighting flipping robots, unless you lose the axe.

Against Dominator 2[]

A good tactic to use up against Dominator 2 is to run into one of the sides of the V-wedge shape to either try and push Dominator 2 around, or just try to use its weak armour to your advantage, by trying to damage it, depending on if your robot is equipped with a damaging weapon.

Differences from Real Life[]

  • The armour is much weaker than it is in real life.
  • Dominator 2's ground clearance is lower in the game.
  • The axe fires much slower than in real life.
