Aeolus was a robot that failed to qualify for Series 4 of Robot Wars. It was a low, rectangular, tracked robot powered by Bosch 750W motors driven by homemade speed controllers designed by the team captain, with wedges all around and a front, low pressure, pneumatic spike, which could penetrate 1mm thick steel. It was armoured in 3mm aluminium plate.
Aeolus failed to qualify, despite defeating Weeliwako 2 in its first qualifier battle. During its second qualifier battle, against an unknown robot, the home-made speed controller failed, resulting in its defeat.
Team captain Peter Waller later had more success with his antweight Combat Ant, which won the Extreme 1 Antweight competition as well as two Antweight World Series, and still competes today.
